The M-Turbo® ultrasound system from SonoSite, the world leader in hand-carried ultrasound, is the latest generation of system designed specifically for the full range of clinical applications at the point of patient care. This versatile powerhouse with brilliant image quality can help you perform anything from abdominal to vascular, to cardiac exams with speed and accuracy.

The M-Turbo system delivers an exponential increase in raw processing power for superior image clarity across all exam types, plus seamless connectivity for digital image export in a rugged, hand-carried product weighing less than 4 kilograms.

Versatile hand-carried ultrasound
The M-Turbo® ultrasound system is SonoSite’s most versatile system for abdominal, nerve, vascular, cardiac, venous access, pelvic, and superficial imaging. The system comes with SonoGT™ and SonoHD™ imaging technology, enhanced colour flow, and the optional SonoRemote™ control.

Exceptional image quality
The M-Turbo is engineered to give you radically better image quality with sharp contrast resolution and clear tissue delineation. You can better visualize detail, improving your ability to differentiate structures, vessels and pathology.

SonoSite’s hand-carried and mountable ultrasound systems can be used to evaluate cardiac structures and identify issues, such as pericardial effusion. They offer fully diagnostic and high-quality imaging that can provide answers to important clinical questions at the point of care. Impedance cardiography (ICG) systems use advanced ICG technology and powerful reporting features to provide accurate, non-invasive haemodynamic profiling for tracking and evaluating patient cardiovascular health, especially thoracic fluid content, cardiac output, contractility, and blood flow velocity.

Unparalleled five-year warranty
The M-Turbo system is offered with a five-year warranty as standard, eliminating the need for expensive service contracts that typically add another 10-15% of the purchase price to system cost per year. Understanding the demanding requirements of point-of-care use, the M-Turbo system withstands SonoSite’s industry-leading 1 metre drop test. Durability is built in from the ground up with the extensive use of magnesium components throughout to maximize strength and minimize weight. As with other SonoSite products, the M-Turbo system is battery operable and goes from off to scanning in less than 15 seconds, plus, the system is easy to clean and sanitize, of utmost importance in critical care environments.

Charity donates SonoSite M-Turbo® to Addenbrooke’s PICU

The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge has recently taken delivery of an M-Turbo® point-of-care ultrasound system with a complete paediatric package, purchased by the PICU Charity Fund (Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust) through a successful community fund raising project which attracted great support and enabled the target to be reached within six months.

Dr Samir Latifi, Clinical Director of PICU, said: “We wanted a tool that was versatile and robust and previous experience with SonoSite instruments has given us confidence in the name, service and reliability. The MTurbo is small and compact yet produces fantastic quality images. Our 11 bed multi-disciplinary PICU covers the whole of the East of England, handling both medical and surgical patients, the majority of whom are under two years of age, and including a mixture of elective postoperative cases in children with complex disorders, and acute traumas. We use ultrasound for placing central venous lines, for cranial ultrasound, and occasionally for general echocardiograms, although this is not a cardiac centre.”

Dr Latifi continued: “A major advantage of having our own point-of-care ultrasound system is that we can perform scans straightaway, and simultaneously we are avoiding exposing our vulnerable patients to multiple X-rays. Occasionally, when we need assistance or confirmation from our radiologist colleagues, they are happy to use the MTurbo and have been very impressed with the results. Essentially, it is a very intuitive system and is backed by the excellent training we have received from SonoSite.”
